Test entry. The subject is '0' but in most cases it will not be displayed.
Hory clap you're right!
subject is not displayed when viewed in my style (minimlaist blue), but is when viewed in yours.
Displays fine for me, lol.
some troubleshooting there
Right now, I can only guess that "if ($subject)"-like construct is used in Perl code somewhere. I suggest you open a JIRA bug on it -- when it gets priority, I think we can get to the root cause pretty quick.
In fact, my style makes comparisons in a way like $e.subject != "", deliberately treating subject as a string. Checking it like if ($e.subject) would produce undesided results.
formatted_subject, I think... though I'm not sure why yours work, Opal should be affected by this as well since it uses formatted_subject!
This is actually a custom style based on Opal. It does not use formatted_subject.
Ahh, that explains it. Then my first guess still stands.
I think that's a pretty good guess :)
It shows up in my (custom) layout. I just checked, and I check for the subject by doing
Appeared on my friends page, not on the (site-scheme) comment page.
