There are five more classes left, then finals... Next Monday, I have a third Economics exam. And the Philosophy essay questions that teacher gave us today are due on Monday as well.

Topics:

1. How does Cicero argue that divine foreknowledge threatens human freedom? How does Augustine show that free will is compatible with divine foreknowledge of future events?

2. Both Anselm and Aquinas offer proofs for the existence of God, but why are their proofs different? Briefly summarize their proofs (in the case of Aquinas, choose one of the 'five ways' as an example), and discuss how their different approaches in these proofs reflect differing views about how we can understand God's essential nature.

I'm tempted to start the second paper by rephrasing the question in this way:

"Anselm and Aquinas offer proofs for the existence of God, but their proofs are different, and their different approaches in these proofs reflect differing views about how we can understand God’s essential nature."
