Constance - Make tea, not war: dandelions

I decided to look at the programs I no longer use and uninstall them... I noticed there are a bunch of Java updates:

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v 1.4.2_03
Java (TM) 6 Update 2
Java (TM) 6 Update 3
Java (TM) 6 Update 5
Java (TM) 6 Update 7
Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Are there any that I can safely remove? They all seem to take up quite a bit of disk space.

You only need the latest version, and can remove any earlier updates.

For just running apps, you should only need JRE 6u7. If you develop in Java, then you'll probably want the JDK too, that's also 6u7. If you want the SE then the latest is 6u10.

Some older Java apps may require an older version of the JRE (there are some at our office that need 1.4.2), but the app should download whichever version it needs if it's been coded well. If not, you can always re-download any older version from the sun website.

Chrome looks good, but as of now it's impossible for me to use it, without messing with registry, which I don't want to do. As soon as Symantec Endpoint Protection and/or Google Chrome correct the problem, I might start using it...
